Job description

We have an opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join their team of staff in the Theatre department. This is a bank role working on an "as and when required" basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence. Working hours are Monday to Friday, between 7:30am-6:00pm or 8:00am-8:00pm, with weekly pay provided. Duties of this role include:

  • Assist in delivering safe and effective care across the theatre department, supporting patients throughout their surgical pathway.
  • Prepare theatres for procedures, including equipment checks, stock preparation, and ensuring the environment is clean and ready.
  • Support with the safe movement and positioning of patients pre- and post-operatively under direction of registered practitioners.
  • Engage with patients in a respectful, dignified, and empathetic manner, helping to alleviate anxiety and ensure comfort.
  • Communicate appropriately with members of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to smooth handovers and coordinated care.
    Previous experience working in a clinical or healthcare support role.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with a compassionate, patient‑centred approach.
  • Willingness to undertake training and competency development in theatre‑specific care.
  • Understanding of infection control, safeguarding, and basic health and safety principles.
