Qualifications

Job description
Overview

We are seeking an exceptional Healthcare Assistant that shares our vision for excellence to work with us here at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Responsibilities
  • The successful applicant will use initiative and excellent interpersonal skills, learn a range of ophthalmic skills, and carry out routine procedures to care for patients undergoing surgery for various eye conditions. You will also support patients and their relatives as required.
  • Support patients in our pre‑assessment pathway and contribute to our re‑thinking of how we provide care to patients and families.
  • Receive full induction, training & competency package and supervision from senior team members.
  • The role is based in our Moorfields Eye Hospital at City Road.
  • Perform ECG when indicated by guidelines or requested by clinicians, carry out ECG bleep duties and assist in medical emergencies around the site when needed.
  • Carry out diagnostic testing after training – including HBA1C testing, ECG, and vital sign measurements – and report any abnormalities.
  • Contribute to department organisation and provide support to registered nurses and other clinical staff in creating a safe and caring environment.
  • Work in accordance with Moorfields values: equity, excellence and kindness.
Qualifications

Previous healthcare assistant experience in an acute hospital setting is essential. A good standard of education including numeracy and literacy, as well as an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification, is required.
