Job summary

A healthcare service provider in Bridgwater is seeking a part-time Healthcare Assistant to support clinical teams and assist with patient care. Healthcare Assistant (HCA) - North Petherton, Nr Bridgwater, Somerset

North Petherton Surgery (near Bridgwater in Somerset) who are part of Symphony Healthcare Services and the North Sedgemoor Primary Care Network; are looking to recruit a permanent, part- timeHealthcare Assistant (HCA)to join their friendly and forward-thinking practice.

Working under the direct supervision of the Practice Nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistants / Phlebotomists will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

We have 16 vacant hours available and specific working patterns (days and times) will be agreed during the interview process.

Pay Rate: £12.65 to £12.95 per hour. Starting salary will be offered based on your previous experience in the role.

This is an excellent opportunity for people passionate about patient care and who are eager to support individuals in navigating health and care systems, whilst working closely with the clinical teams to improve patient outcomes.

Main duties of the job
  • Perform new patient and NHS health checks
  • Undertake prediabetes reviews including giving lifestyle advice, (diet, weight, exercise, smoking cessation, alcohol) making necessary referrals within PHCT/local support services
  • Undertake point of care testing for cholesterol, HbA1c, and INR
  • ECG recording
  • Blood Pressure monitoring including issuing HBPM in accordance with practice policy
