Health & Safety Officer - Leicester

Location: Desford

Rate: £22.00p/h + £2.66p/h Holiday pay – PAYE, (Salary: £51,292.80)

Contract: 3 – 6 months initial contract

Start: Immediate

Hours: Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:30

Our client, a leading name in the Manufacturing/Engineering sector, is seeking a Health & Safety Officer to provide essential engineering safety support on their site. This is a crucial role focused on the creation, review, and upkeep of vital safety documentation for the engineering department.

This position requires a detail-focused, methodical safety professional who can work effectively in both the office and on the shop floor, collaborating closely with technical teams to ensure safe working practices and continuous improvement in safety processes.

What Our Client is Looking For:
  • Solid understanding of Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work (SSOW/SSOPs), and COSHH requirements.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment is preferred (construction experience is also acceptable).
  • Ability to work confidently across office and shop-floor environments to gather information.
  • Practical, proactive approach with strong communication and collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assisting with the production and updating of Risk Assessments for engineering tasks.
  • Supporting the creation and review of Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) and Standard Safe Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
  • Completing COSHH assessments and ensuring safe storage and handling processes.
  • Working closely with engineers, supervisors, and managers to gather accurate task information and support best practice.
  • Carrying out basic safety checks, audits, and updates to H&S documentation.
Requirements:
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (essential).
  • Strong communication, organisational, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Detail-focused, methodical, and able to work collaboratively with technical teams.
