Job summary

A local GP surgery in Walmersley seeks a full-time qualified Health Care Assistant to join their supportive team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in patient health management, conducting checks and recordings under the guidance of the Practice Nurse. Key responsibilities include ECG recordings, blood pressure monitoring, and home visits for patients. Candidates should have at least 12 months of experience as a HCA in a primary care setting. Pay is dependent on experience and can be discussed during the interview.

Job description

We are looking to employ a full-time qualified Health Care Assistant to work within our busy GP surgery. The successful candidate will work well as part of a team or using own initiative. Pay will be dependant upon experience and can be discussed during the interview. Hours will be between 8am - 6.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Main duties of the job
  • New patient health checks
  • ECG recording
  • BP monitoring
  • Urinalysis
  • Ensure specimens are labelled and bagged ready for collection with the necessary paperwork completed.
  • Ensure clinical waste collection runs smoothly, reporting any problems to the Practice Nurse.
  • Ensure sharps bins are ready for collection.
  • Restocking/maintenance of equipment.
  • Restocking of clinical areas and consulting rooms.
  • Assisting the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
  • Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
  • Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
  • Provide lifestyle advice to patients making any necessary referrals within the practice.
  • Home visiting housebound patients for reviews and blood tests.
