Are you a Health & Safety professional with a strong track record in construction? This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing main contractor in a pivotal Group H&S role, overseeing projects across the business and ensuring compliance, consistency and best practice.

The Company

This established main contractor delivers a diverse portfolio of schemes across the UK, from medium-scale new build residential and student accommodation developments through to high-quality commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects. With an expanding order book, they are seeking a Group Health & Safety Manager to take ownership of HSE across the business, reporting directly to the Board.

The Role

As Health & Safety Manager, you will:

  • Oversee health & safety across all live projects, ensuring company policies and procedures are implemented to the highest standard.
  • Travel nationwide (expenses covered) to visit sites, carry out audits, inspections, and provide hands-on support to project teams.
  • Work closely with Contracts Managers, Project Managers, and Site Managers to promote a positive H&S culture.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, HSE legislation, and client requirements.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions, toolbox talks, and ongoing H&S awareness across the workforce.
  • Produce reports, review RAMS, and drive continuous improvement across the organisation.
About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience as a Health & Safety Manager within a main contractor environment.
  • Strong knowledge of H&S requirements on new build, refurbishment, and commercial fit-out projects.
  • Exposure to residential schemes including student accommodation.
  • A solid understanding of CDM Regulations and construction legislation.
  • Relevant H&S qualifications (NEBOSH Construction Certificate minimum, Diploma preferred).
  • Willingness to travel nationally as part of a group-wide remit (all travel paid).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage site teams and senior stakeholders alike.
