A rural primary school in the Lake District area is seeking a new Headteacher to lead the school and further develop its curriculum. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and a commitment to safeguarding. They will also foster a collaborative environment and adapt the school’s teaching tools effectively. The role offers a supportive staff community and a beautiful location, ensuring a great work/life balance.
Low Furness CE Primary is a small village school in a beautiful setting with strong local links and a supportive community. We celebrated a positive Ofsted inspection in 2025 and look forward to recruiting a new Headteacher to carry forward our vision and further develop our new curriculum.
We are looking for a warm, insightful, communicative leader with a commitment to broad, holistic education. The ideal candidate will combine a collaborative approach with a clear vision of effective curriculum design and assessment. They will bring a love of the outdoors, an inspiring presence in collective worship, and heartfelt care for the unique potential of every child.
The Christian vision of the school has recently been renewed and this year we have adopted the CUSP curriculum framework, so we are also looking for the Head who can bring a calm and stable long‑term view, adapting our new tools and settling them into the school.
The new Head will have good administrative and IT backing, a thorough and supportive handover, and tailored peer‑mentor support.
The Furness Peninsula is a great place to live and work, with the Lake District National Park only a few minutes away. There are fells, lakes and beaches on all sides, and we are committed to maintaining a happy work/life balance for the Head and all our staff.
Low Furness CE Primary School is committed to the safeguarding of its pupils and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An online search will be carried out on shortlisted candidates, as directed in Keeping Children Safe in Education 2023. The successful candidate will be appointed on completion of an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check in line with the Government’s Safer Recruitment guidelines, and on receipt of professional references.
