Ourclient is a leading and well-respected manufacturing company that specialises within the Oil & Gas and MoD industry. Due to increased demand, they are looking for an experienced candidate to join their team as the Head of Tendering.

Main Tasks / Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop, establish and promote CSOA department methods of working, policies and management procedures and ensure these are adhered to moving forward. The job will be a mixture of travel and office based.
  • Manage, direct, and monitor the overall performance of the tender process team to obtain maximum efficiency, quality, service and profitability for the organisation. Developing plans for team activities to improve strategy.
  • Effective liaison, support and assistance with all relevant stakeholders including sales, applications, engineering, projects, quality and suppliers.
  • The successful candidate must be able to prioritise workloads and ensure the needs of both the business and our clients are met, in a dynamic, fast moving and high‑pressure environment.
  • Maintain and improve mechanisms for obtaining opportunities, surveying and measuring tender process and disseminate feedback to the appropriate internal entities.
  • Manage the development of plans for tender process activities to achieve targets, including streamlining of process, analysis and documentation.
  • Reporting (content and format as agreed) on a monthly basis or as otherwise agreed.
  • Assist in the development and preparation of the organisation’s tender process strategy and general business planning.
  • Delegate authority and responsibility to team with supervision, accountability and review.
  • Maintain accurate records using Salesforce where applicable.
  • Responsibly use resources and control expenses to meet agreed budgetary controls.
  • Adhere to all organisation policies and procedures.
  • Provide customer and competitor marketing feedback to surveys and programs.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts through involvement in structured problem solving and other activities using LEAN concepts.
Essential Experience
  • Engineering degree or commercial equivalent, including 5 years technical and commercial tendering experience.
  • Good technical knowledge of both non-API and API category pumps (BB, OH, VS), electro-submersible pump sets.
  • Experience dealing with the associated ancillary equipment that forms part of packaged pump sets.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting various component drawings, assembly drawings, exploded view/cross sectional and general arrangement drawings as well as piping & instrumentation drawings.
  • Good knowledge of basic metallurgies from cast iron to super duplex, and preferably more exotic materials such as Graphalloy, Hastelloy, PEEK, Tungsten Carbide, and coating knowledge such as HVOF coatings, welded overlays, cladding, and hand‑applied coatings (i.e. Belzona).
  • Knowledge of general industry manufacturing methods including pattern manufacturing, castings (sand, investment, patternless etc.), forgings and fabrications.
  • Basic knowledge of relevant industry standards including API, ANSI, ASME, ATEX, BS EN, COSHH, DNV, GOST, ISO, LOLER, NACE and NORSOK.
  • Good understanding of service & repair work and methodologies, including being able to interpret SIR, and generate quotations based on the findings of these reports.
  • Excellent estimating skills.
  • Aptitude for tender process management and customer/supplier relationship management.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, organisational, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple inputs and outputs from internal and external sources under time-focused constraints.
  • Commercial awareness and to budget focus.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Must be a proficient user of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project), Visio, Salesforce (a plus), and have experience of Epicor, Oracle or SAP based ERP systems.
  • Must be of British Nationality.
