Head of Strategic Finance

Full Time - 37 hours per week, Northallerton based

Are you looking to lead a dynamic finance function that shapes strategic and operational decision-making?

We are looking for someone to take charge of our 5-year and 30-year financial plans, secure long-term financial resilience while leading our capital strategy.

In this pivotal role, you'll develop a finance business partner model that empowers leaders to make informed decisions and ensure compliance with all standards and legislation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide management information and financial support to the groups subsidiary companies.
  • Responsible for communicating effectively with budget holders to prepare the group annual budgets, issuing annual budget instructions based on agreed guidelines and maintaining the budget manual.
  • Develop 5 & 30 year financial plans to support the Boards medium and long term decision making.
  • Undertake the provision of Treasury Management including the efficient investment of surplus funds by making appropriate treasury deposits after determining the short-term cashflow position of the Association.
  • Lead on the preparation of the annual statutory accounts in line with the required professional accounting standards and in accordance with the recommendations of the Audit Committee and the requirements of the Homes England, specifically the Regulator for Social Housing (RSH).
  • Provide assurance that Broadacres are financially compliant included ensuring that any changes Accounting Standards and legislation are implemented in an appropriate way for the organisation.
What Success Looks Like:
  • A well lead financial performance team embedded into the organisation which support the budget holders, DMT and Boards in making financial decisions.
  • Our external stakeholders have assurance that we have sound financial planning in place.
  • Broadacres will have a funding strategy that ensures access to timely, cost-effective, and sustainable funding to deliver its objectives.
  • All statutory and regulatory obligations relating to the RSH, HMRC, (and any others) in the areas of responsibility will be fulfilled.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required:
  • Professional accounting qualification such as ICAEW, CIPFA
  • Extensive experience in a senior finance leadership role, preferably in social housing.
  • Experience of developing, implementing and monitoring strategies
  • Extensive experience in the use of financial systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships.
