You’ll bring strong commercial insight, technical expertise, and strategic vision to ensure our fleet is safe, compliant, reliable, and future‑ready.

Key Qualifications
  • A degree or professional qualification in fleet management, logistics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in fleet and asset operations, including procurement, compliance, and performance management.
  • Evidence of successful strategic planning and budget management in a complex environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to negotiate, influence, and deliver value.
  • Ability to lead complex projects and navigate regulatory frameworks with confidence.

Role Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fleet strategy covering capital acquisition, asset lifecycle management, and maintenance.
  • Ensure full compliance with traffic regulations and maintain the Council’s operator’s licence.
  • Lead strategic fleet procurement to support long‑term sustainability and operational efficiency.
  • Manage capital budgets for fleet replacement and spearhead innovation in low‑carbon and alternative fuel technologies.
  • Establish performance metrics to evaluate procurement, maintenance, and operational effectiveness.
  • Oversee robust maintenance schedules that ensure full regulatory compliance and maximise fleet availability.
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams, suppliers, regulators, and industry partners.
  • Monitor and manage all fleet‑related budgets, ensuring cost‑effective and value‑driven decision making.
