Job summary

A leading media company is looking for a Head of Finance to manage a 40m production budget, oversee accounting processes, and provide financial analysis for strategic decisions. The ideal candidate will be qualified (ACA / CIMA / ACCA), educated to degree level, and have strong proficiency in Excel. This is a full-time contract based in London at Stockley Park, with responsibilities including team management and compliance with financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Working closely with the PLP management team the main focus of this role is to manage and control PLPs 40m production spend on output commissioned by the Premier League and provide financial information and analysis on the department's activities. The Head of Finance will also be responsible for the accurate financial planning of PLPs activities in IMG's corporate systems and the monthly accounting close and will be expected to advise on best practice and workflow improvements. The Head of Finance will be the line manager for a support team of 5 accounting staff.

Budgeting

Working alongside the Head of Production this role is responsible for overseeing the production budgeting process by:

  • Co‑ordinating and managing the preparation of accurate detailed and timely budgets;
  • Assisting the Production Management team with any budgeting queries;
  • Monitoring performance vs. budgets on a regular basis;
  • Consolidating the latest event budget information into a quarterly rolling financial forecast;
  • Updating IMG corporate financial plans with current forecasts
Management Reporting
  • Providing PLP management with regular and ad hoc financial reports as required;
  • Investigating and explaining budgetary variances;
  • Providing financial analysis to drive procurement and strategic decisions within the department;
  • Preparing regular financial reporting packs for meetings with Premier League;
  • Liaising with IMG corporate accounting on all relevant matters.
Accounting

Ensuring that all PLP accounting complies with applicable company tax and other legal / government regulations. Specific tasks will include:

  • Ensuring that internal authorisation policies are complied with;
  • Ensuring that appropriate revenue recognition policies are applied to PLP accounting;
  • Ensuring that external payments comply with HMRC tax rules for the Film and TV industry;
  • Reviewing supplier and customer contracts and advising on financial issues;
  • Monthly accounting close of PLP projects in SAP;
  • Escalating unusual financial issues to the Head of Production and Finance Director;
  • Reviewing procedures and making recommendations for improvements.

Knowledge and Experience

Mandatory

  • Confident and flexible team player;
  • Experience of providing finance support within a commercial environment.

Desirable

  • Production / Media industry experience;
  • SAP and BPC experience;
  • Knowledge of HMRC tax rules as they affect the television programme production business;
  • Experience of working in a multi‑national organisation.
Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work alongside and understand the requirements of production and commercial colleagues;
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team of 5 assistants.
