Salary: £60,333 - £71,302 per annum
Location: Greater Manchester
Contract Type: Full‑time, 36 hours per week, Permanent

Are you an experienced estates and capital projects professional looking for your next leadership challenge within the education sector? This is an exciting opportunity to take the lead on the management and development of a major college estate, spanning five sites across the city of Manchester.

The Role

As Head of Estates and Capital Projects, you will lead and manage the Estates and Capital team to deliver a comprehensive, high-quality, and proactive service across all five college campuses. This pivotal role ensures that all sites provide safe, sustainable, and inspiring environments for staff, students, and visitors.

Key roles and responsibilities
  • Lead and inspire the Estates and Capital team to deliver outstanding service across all college sites.
  • Oversee the strategic development, maintenance, and improvement of the college estate.
  • Manage the planning and delivery of the capital programme, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Take the lead on Health and Safety management and compliance, safeguarding everyone on campus.
  • Provide expert strategic advice to senior leaders and act as the college's lead adviser on estates and capital matters.
  • Continuously review and improve systems and processes to ensure best value and operational excellence.
About you

You’ll be a confident and collaborative leader with significant experience in estates and capital management within a complex organisation, ideally within the education or public sector.

  • Proven success in managing large‑scale estates and delivering capital projects.

Essential Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level in a construction or estate management‑related discipline.
  • A professional qualification in a property or built environment-related field (architecture, building, engineering, facilities management, or surveying).
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) in health and safety.
  • Membership of a recognised building/facilities services management professional body (CIOB, MBIFM, MIOSH, etc.).
