A leading provider of elderly care homes is seeking a dedicated Head Chef to join their team in Stratford-upon-Avon. The role involves managing a culinary team to provide high-quality, nutritionally balanced meals for residents. Candidates should have at least two years of culinary management experience and a relevant catering qualification. This is a permanent full-time position offering £17 an hour.

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Chef to join our award-winning team in Stratford-upon-Avon. The role involves managing and leading a culinary team to provide high-quality, nutritionally balanced meals for the residents, ensuring their overall well-being.



Main Duties

As a Head Chef you will manage and lead a culinary team that delivers nutritionally balanced, comprehensive and high-quality culinary service. This includes preparing modified diets that are appealing and well-balanced, ordering food supplies, supervising and directing kitchen staff, and practising safe systems of work. You must have at least two years' experience managing a culinary team in the care or hospitality sectors, hold a relevant catering qualification and demonstrate a passion for delivering high-quality culinary standards.



Responsibilities


  • Prepare modified diets that are appealing and well-balanced, in accordance with IDDSI guidance.

  • Place food orders with approved suppliers, ensuring good quality provisions are purchased within agreed budget limits.

  • Supervise and direct the work of kitchen staff and the host team, instructing and demonstrating simple food preparation activities to unqualified staff.

  • Practice safe systems of work across the range of tasks and assess risk, ensuring the personal safety of residents, visitors and staff.

  • Maintain appropriate stock levels and control, ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are met.



Qualifications & Experience


  • At least two years’ experience managing a culinary team in the care or hospitality sectors.

  • Relevant catering qualification (City & Guilds 706/1 & 706/2 or NVQ).

  • Demonstrated passion and commitment to delivering high-quality culinary standards to residents.

  • Ability to control a budget.

  • Good communication and leadership skills.

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and safe systems of work.
