Job summary

Actian is seeking a highly technical Tech Lead to guide a small feature team in delivering robust cloud-native SaaS solutions. You will write top-tier backend code, architect systems, and lead by example with a modern stack (Scala, Python, TypeScript). Emphasis on AI coding agents to boost velocity while maintaining quality.

You will mentor 3–4 engineers, own technical execution, collaborate closely with Product Managers, and ensure production health across cloud deployments.

Qualifications

• Deep backend engineering experience building and scaling cloud-native SaaS platforms.
• Strong production-proven experience writing code in Scala; Python or TypeScript are a big plus.
• Deep experience using AI coding agents in day-to-day work; ability to prompt, review for security/architecture, and maximize efficiency.
• Builder mindset: you love writing code and shipping features over management paperwork.
• Product empathy: you care about the why behind what you build and aim for user value.
• High-agency leadership: you own outcomes and jump in to fix blockers or at-risk deadlines.
• Exceptional English skills (written and spoken) to align with product owners.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on coding and execution: write high-quality backend code and tackle complex challenges.
• Technical stack mastery: guide direction using Scala and Python for data systems, TypeScript for front-end delivery.
• AI-driven velocity: advocate and teach AI coding agents to speed up shipping without compromising quality.
• Product-driven ownership: align technical work with product goals and business value.
• SaaS delivery mastery: own multi-tenant cloud architecture and production deployments.
• Mentorship by example: pair program, perform deep code reviews, and raise the team’s bar.
• Velocity focus: remove blockers and hit team milestones.
• Product collaboration: partner with Product Managers to refine features and translate ideas into tasks.
• Production health: ensure reliability, security and performance in the cloud.
