Job summary

Actian is seeking a highly technical Tech Lead to guide a small feature team of 3-4 engineers. You will be a builder who writes code, designs backend systems, and leads by example.

In a modern SaaS stack (Scala, Python, TypeScript), you will own technical execution, mentor teammates, and push for AI-assisted development to accelerate delivery while maintaining quality and production readiness.

Qualifications

• Deep backend engineering experience building and scaling cloud-native SaaS platforms.
• Production-proven Scala experience; Python or TypeScript a big plus.
• Deep experience using AI coding agents in day-to-day work and evaluating AI-generated code.
• Builder mindset with strong product empathy and ownership.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on coding and execution, tackling the most complex backend challenges.
• Guide technical direction using Scala and Python for robust data systems and TypeScript for full-stack features.
• Advocate for AI coding agents to boost velocity while maintaining quality.
• Own end-to-end delivery of team features for multi-tenant cloud environments.
• Mentor 3-4 engineers through pairing, reviews, and technical guidance.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to refine features and align with product goals.
• Ensure production health, security, and reliability in the cloud.
