Job summary

Actian in Leeds seeks a highly technical Tech Lead to guide a small feature team of 3–4 engineers. You will be a builder who writes code, architects backend systems, and leads by example, focusing on SaaS backends with Scala, Python, and TypeScript while leveraging AI coding agents to multiply output.

You will own features end-to-end, mentor teammates, work with Product Managers to translate vision into tasks, ensure multi-tenant cloud delivery, and maintain production health in the cloud.

Qualifications

• Deep backend engineering experience building and scaling cloud-native SaaS platforms.
• Strong production-proven experience with Scala; Python or TypeScript is a plus.
• Deep experience using AI coding agents in daily work and critically reviewing AI-generated code.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on coding and execution on complex backend challenges.
• Guide the team’s technical direction using Scala, Python, and TypeScript.
• Promote AI coding agents to boost velocity and quality.
• Own the end-to-end delivery of features for multi-tenant cloud SaaS.
• Mentor 3–4 engineers through pair programming and code reviews.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to turn ideas into executable tasks.
• Maintain production health, security, and reliability in the cloud.
