Job summary

GE Vernova in the Grid Automation protection & control team is offering a graduate role for someone passionate about electrical engineering and substation protection. You’ll gain hands-on experience designing, configuring and testing protection and control solutions for different substations, under mentoring from experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, power systems or related field.
• Basic understanding of protection schemes, relay logic, and control system principles.
• Familiarity with power system fundamentals, substations, or single line diagrams.
• Knowledge of SCADA/DCS systems, industrial communications, or cybersecurity in energy systems.
• Experience with Python, MATLAB, or AutoCAD is a plus.
• Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and configuration of protection and control systems for electrical substations.
• Support testing activities, including factory acceptance tests.
• Gain exposure to SCADA, RTU, HMI systems, and protection relays.
• Learn IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus and other communication protocols.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product engineering, applications, and field services.
• Support documentation development, including system specifications, test procedures, and reports.
• Engage in continuous learning and training sessions to contribute to technical innovation.
• Work closely with project teams to ensure high-quality solutions aligned with customer needs.
