Job summary

GE Vernova – Grid Automation is seeking a Graduate Engineer to grow a career in substation protection and control systems. You will design, configure and test protection and control solutions for substations, mentored by experienced engineers and rotating through teams within Grid Automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or power systems.
• Understanding of protection schemes, relay logic and control principles.
• Familiarity with power systems fundamentals and substation layouts.
• Knowledge of SCADA/DCS, industrial communications or cybersecurity in energy systems.
• Experience with Python, MATLAB or AutoCAD is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and configuration of protection and control systems for substations.
• Support testing activities, including factory acceptance tests.
• Gain exposure to SCADA, RTU, HMI systems and protection relays.
• Learn IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus and other communication protocols.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including product engineering, applications, and field services.
• Support documentation development, including system specifications and test procedures.
• Engage in continuous learning, attend training sessions, and contribute to technical innovation.
• Work with project and delivery teams to ensure high‑quality solutions aligned with customer needs.
