Job summary

GE Vernova, Inc.Graduate role in Grid Automation focuses on protection and control systems for substations. You will gain hands-on experience designing, configuring and testing protection and control solutions for various voltage levels and will rotate through teams to build a solid foundation.

You will be mentored by experienced engineers, learn IEC 61850 protocols, and work with SCADA/RTU/HMI systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver secure and reliable grid automation

Qualifications

Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
Foundational knowledge of protection schemes, relay logic, and control system principles.
Familiarity with power system fundamentals, substations, or single line diagrams.
Knowledge of SCADA/DCS systems, industrial communications, or cybersecurity in energy systems.
Competence in Python, MATLAB, or AutoCAD is a plus.
Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

Assist in the design and configuration of protection and control systems for electrical substations.
Support testing activities, including factory acceptance tests.
Gain exposure to SCADA, RTU, HMI systems, and protection relays.
Learn IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus and other communication protocols.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product engineering, applications, and field services.
Support documentation development, including system specifications, test procedures, and technical reports.
Engage in continuous learning, attend training sessions, and contribute to technical innovation.
Work closely with project and delivery teams to ensure high-quality solutions aligned with customer needs.
