Job summary

GE Vernova - Grid Automation is offering a graduate role in electrical engineering focused on substation protection and control systems. You will gain hands-on experience designing, configuring and testing protection solutions for various substations, while rotating through teams to build a solid foundation in automation and cybersecurity.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
• Basic understanding of protection schemes, relay logic, and control system principles.
• Familiarity with power system fundamentals, substations, or single line diagrams.
• Knowledge of SCADA/DCS, industrial communications, or cybersecurity in energy systems.
• Competence in Python, MATLAB or AutoCAD is a plus.
• Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and configuration of protection and control systems for electrical substations.
• Support testing activities, including factory acceptance tests.
• Gain exposure to SCADA, RTU, HMI systems, and protection relays.
• Learn IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus and other communication protocols.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product engineering, applications, and field services.
• Support documentation development, including system specifications, test procedures, and technical reports.
• Engage in continuous learning and training, contributing to technical innovation.
• Work closely with project and delivery teams to align solutions with customer needs.
