GE Vernova Grid Automation offers a structured graduate programme for electrical engineering graduates to design, configure and test protection and control solutions for substations. You will rotate across teams, gaining hands-on experience in substation automation, SCADA systems, IEC 61850, and cybersecurity while being mentored by experienced engineers.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
Basic understanding of protection schemes, relay logic, and control system principles.
Familiarity with power system fundamentals, substation layouts, or single line diagrams.
Knowledge of SCADA/DCS systems, industrial communications, or cybersecurity in energy systems.
Competence in tools such as Python, MATLAB, or AutoCAD is a plus.
Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

Assist in the design and configuration of protection and control systems for electrical substations.
Support testing activities, including factory acceptance tests.
Gain exposure to SCADA, RTU, HMI systems, and protection relays.
Learn and apply IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus and other communication protocols.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product engineering, applications, and field services.
Support documentation development, including system specifications, test procedures, and technical reports.
Engage in continuous learning, attend training sessions, and contribute to technical innovation.
Work closely with project and delivery teams to ensure high-quality solutions aligned with customer needs.
