Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a graduate in electrical engineering to join our Grid Automation Protection & Control team in the UK. You will design, configure and test protection and control solutions for substations, gaining hands-on experience across SCADA, RTU and protection relays.

You will rotate through multiple teams, mentored by engineers, learning IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus and cybersecurity aspects while collaborating with product engineering and field services to deliver robust grid

Qualifications

• A bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of protection schemes, relay logic, and control system principles.
• Familiarity with power system fundamentals, substation layouts, or single line diagrams.
• Knowledge of or interest in SCADA/DCS systems, industrial communications, or cybersecurity in energy systems.
• Competence in Python, MATLAB, or AutoCAD is a plus.
• Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and configuration of protection and control systems for electrical substations
• Support testing activities, including factory acceptance tests.
• Gain exposure to SCADA, RTU, HMI systems, and protection relays.
• Learn and apply IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus and other communication protocols.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product engineering, applications, and field services.
• Support documentation development, including system specifications, test procedures, and technical reports.
• Engage in continuous learning, attend training sessions, and contribute to technical innovation.
• Work closely with project and delivery teams to ensure high-quality solutions aligned with customer needs.
