A busy GP training practice in the UK is seeking a motivated Receptionist to provide essential front-line support to patients and staff. The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service and communication skills, with a strong ability to remain calm under pressure. Responsibilities include managing patient inquiries, scheduling appointments, and assisting with administrative tasks. This position offers 20 hours per week, with full training provided for those without specific NHS experience.
We are seeking a motivated and adaptable Receptionist to join our busy and friendly practice. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to remain calm and work efficiently under pressure. Flexibility with working hours is essential for this role. While experience in primary care or NHS administration is desirable, it is not required, as full training will be provided. Previous experience working with the public in a customer service environment is essential.
Hours of Work: 20 hours per week
Monday: 8:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m.
Thursday: 8:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m.
Friday: 1:30 p.m. 6:30 p.m.
Provide all reception duties, including face-to-face and telephone support for patients, staff, and visitors.
Assist with general administration tasks to support the smooth running of the practice.
Ensure patients receive a professional, welcoming, and efficient service at all times.
Springfields Medical Centre is a well-established, busy GP training practice located in the heart of Warrington town centre. We provide primary care services to approximately 8,000 patients.

Receptionist / Patient Adviser Job Description
Provide an efficient and professional reception service for patients and other visitors to the Practice.
Handle general enquiries, explain procedures, and schedule new or follow-up appointments.
Process online appointment requests via Systm Connect.
Use judgment and communication skills to manage patients without prior appointments who require urgent consultation, ensuring minimal disruption.
Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients or those seeking temporary cover, ensuring all necessary procedures are completed.
Hand completed repeat prescriptions, letters, or forms to patients, checking ID to maintain confidentiality in line with GDPR and Practice guidance.
Be capable of covering all reception tasks as needed.
Process and triage appointment requests for same-day and future appointments via SystmConnect, telephone, or in person.
Handle visit requests efficiently.
Improve patient access to primary care and help reduce pressure on GPs.
Provide clear, accurate information about the full range of services available both inside and outside the Practice, enabling patients to make informed choices.
Act as a first point of contact for patients, directing them to the most appropriate source of help at the right time, in the right place, and with the right person or organization.
Use the Practice computer system to book, cancel, or amend appointments, check patient information, and update patient records as necessary.
Action tasks assigned to the reception team promptly.
