Job Summary

Ranworth PCN are seeking a GP assistant to work across the surgeries within our PCN on a part‑time, permanent basis for 15 hours per week, working across 2 days. The role would suit someone who has previously worked as a healthcare assistant within primary care as there are many clinical duties. This position within the team is responsible for assisting the GPs in the smooth running of clinics, carrying out clinical and administration tasks.

Main duties of the job
  • Dipping urine, taking blood pressure, ECGs and phlebotomy
  • Supporting the GP with immunisations/wound care
  • Explaining treatment procedures to patients
  • Assisting the GP to liaise with outside agencies, eg on call doctor
  • Preparing patients prior to going in to see the GP, taking a brief history and basic readings in readiness for the GP appointment
  • Sorting post
  • Arranging appointments, referrals, tests etc
  • Coding clinical letters
