An esteemed educational institution in the UK is looking for individuals to join its governance team. Two roles are available: Governor (Board Member) and Co-opted Member for the Audit & Risk Committee. An opportunity to contribute to the governance and strategic direction of Waltham Forest College. Waltham Forest College Corporation is seeking individuals with relevant experience who understand the community and are committed to the highest standards of public service. As part of our succession planning and to strengthen capacity within our assurance and oversight arrangements, we are recruiting for two distinct governance roles supporting our Audit and Risk Committee: 1) Governor (Board Member) - also serving on the Audit & Risk Committee. We are seeking one new Governor (Corporation Member) who will serve on the full Board and be appointed to the Audit & Risk Committee. The successful candidate will bring senior‑level experience and constructive challenge to support strong assurance, oversight and scrutiny. 2) Co‑opted Member – Audit & Risk Committee, These appointments form part of the Corporation's ongoing succession planning and are intended to strengthen capacity and breadth of expertise within the Audit and Risk Committee, ensuring continued effective oversight of risk, controls, assurance, and compliance in a changing funding and regulatory landscape. Time commitment Governor (Board Member) role: The full Board meets approximately four times per academic year on Tuesday evenings and there are also two Strategic Planning days. In addition, Governors are required to sit on at least one committee; the Audit & Risk Committee meets at least once a term, virtually. Co‑opted Committee Member role: Attendance at the Audit & Risk Committee meetings (at least once per term, virtually), the two Strategic Planning days plus reasonable preparation time and occasional additional briefing as required.
