An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal or Associate Geo-Environmental Engineer to join a forward-thinking, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with a strong presence across the UK. This strategic role will be based in either Glasgow or Edinburgh and will be instrumental in shaping and expanding the organisation’s geo-environmental offering.
This is a senior-level appointment within a growing environmental engineering team. The successful candidate will take ownership of the technical and commercial delivery of geo-environmental and geotechnical projects, contributing significantly to both team development and company growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the planning and execution of geo-environmental and geotechnical investigations, risk assessments, and remediation strategies.
Prepare and review technical reports including Phase 1 Desk Studies, Phase 2 Site Investigations, and validation reports.
Provide technical direction and mentoring to junior and mid-level team members.
Engage with clients, stakeholders, and regulators to ensure high-quality project delivery.
Drive business development, support bids, and contribute to strategic planning for future growth.
You will be an experienced and motivated engineering professional who thrives in a leadership role and is ready to take on the challenge of building and evolving a service line.
A degree in Geology or a closely related Earth Sciences discipline.
Chartered Geologist (CGeol) status with the Geological Society or equivalent.
Significant experience (minimum 8–10 years) in the geo-environmental consultancy sector.
In-depth knowledge of UK ground conditions, contaminated land regulations, and risk assessment methodologies.
Strong technical, commercial, and project management capabilities.
Proven track record of leading projects and mentoring staff.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
A leadership role within a well-established and growing consultancy.
