A medical practice in Yeovil is looking for a GP Assistant to support the administration team in a permanent role of approximately 30 hours per week. The candidate will help streamline operations, manage patient information, and support both GPs and the Practice Manager with various tasks. Candidates should be GCSE qualified, have strong keyboard and communication skills, and experience in a primary care environment is a plus. GeneralPractice Assistants (GPAs) form part of a multi-disciplinary team withinprimary care, providing a support role by carrying out administrative tasks tofree up GP time and contribute to the smooth running of the Practice.
We are looking for a GP Assistant (GPA) to join our friendly and professional Admin team.
This is a permanent role for around 30 hours per week.
Thepost-holder will help to improve standards across awide range of administrative activity. The position is suitablefor someone who wishes to demonstrate initiative and to develop their ownskills further.
The practice has over 15,800 patients, and is at the forefront of new care models and network working. We have a strong ethos on continuous learning with an enthusiastic multi-team approach to care.
We try to offer a holistic approach to our patients so they feel cared for and for us the right candidate will be able to bring enthusiasm and a willingness to develop into the role.
To support the smooth running of clinics by performing the moreroutine administration on behalf of the GP, freeing up their time to focuson the patient.
To extract all information from clinical letters that need codingand adding to medical records.
To action referral tasks from the clinical team, ensuring referralsare sent to the most appropriate service.
To provide support to the GPs through processing repeat medicationrequests using the agreed practice protocols.
To provide support tothe Practice Manager for project work, day-to-day tasks and specific assignedtasks within the Practice.
To support the practice in thedelivery of the Network Contract DES and Quality and Outcome Frameworkspecifications.
To ensure that meeting actionsare recorded, disseminated, and followed up in a timely way; ensure relevant practicestaff are aware of meeting decisions and actions / outcomes, and chase foraction resolution and update.
To support with chronicdisease and drug monitoring recall systems
To manage dataquality issues, providing support and guidance to practice staff in the use ofthe clinical system to promote quality achievement.
The post-holder willneed to become familiar with all functions of the clinical system and theirapplications, plus national and local quality standards for primary care.
Thepost holder will be aware of the various statutory requirements and will assistin implementation as directed by the practice manager. There is a need to workclosely with reception and clinical staff to ensure the smooth running of thepractice, reporting any problems encountered to the relevant person.
Trainingrequirements will be monitored by yearly appraisal. Personal development willbe encouraged and supported by the practice. It is the individualsresponsibility to remain up to date with recent developments.
