Job summary

Upham Inns is seeking a General Manager to lead a gastro-style pub, driving guest satisfaction and team performance in Southern England. You will own guest journey from booking to dining experience and supervise daily operations with a hands-on leadership style.

The role demands strong leadership, impeccable service, and a passion for food and drink culture. You will be responsible for rostering, stock control, and ensuring health and safety standards across the site.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a General Manager of gastro-style pub for at least 1 year or proven track record across pub/restaurant formats.
• Strong leadership and ability to drive high guest service standards.
• Financial understanding and experience with P&L, sales and labour budgeting.

Responsibilities

• Overall management of the pub in line with company procedures and brand standards.
• Lead by example with hands-on coaching and development of the team.
• Engage with the local community to grow repeat business and uphold the pub’s reputation.
• Oversee ordering, stock control and waste reduction to meet budgets.
• Prepare rosters at least 2 weeks in advance in line with labour budgets.
