An established engineering manufacturer is seeking a General / Production Manager to oversee daily activities, drive performance, and support ongoing projects and proposals.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist organisation operating within the energy and heavy engineering sectors. The ideal candidate will bring both strong leadership capability and hands‑on technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day site operations, including production, repair work, and engineering activities.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams, ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality performance.
• Implement robust processes, KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide hands‑on engineering input across production, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems.
• Ensure full compliance with industry standards, regulations, and technical specifications.
• Review technical drawings, documentation, and work packages for accuracy and feasibility.
• Collaborate with commercial teams to scope new projects, define technical requirements, and support resource and timeline estimations.

Operational Oversight

• Manage production schedules, resource planning, and workflow coordination.
• Drive quality assurance and ensure outputs meet customer expectations.
• Champion HSE best practices and maintain a strong site safety culture.

Skills & Experience

Essential

• Previous experience as a General Manager, Production Engineer, Operations Manager, or similar role within engineering, industrial boiler, or heavy industry environments.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven leadership skills in a site‑based environment.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.

Desirable

• Experience supporting commercial proposals or tender submissions.
• Knowledge of fabrication, welding, pressure systems, or manufacturing processes.
