Overview

About the job. The General Ledger Accountant performs a variety of routine and non-routine accounting functions with significant focus on General Ledger accounting. This position supports the Financial Accounting Manager with month-end and quarter-end close, Fixed Assets, Account Reconciliations and Audits. You will record and process a wide range of financial transactions. The role is essential for financial reporting and requires liaison with various departments across the DO & CO family to build and maintain excellent working relationships and provide a positive, professional service. Prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and ensure data accuracy. The team strives to exceed targets while maintaining the DO & CO culture and collaborating with partners, vendors, and other stakeholders. Supporting the Financial Accounting Manager with daily tasks as required. Conducting accurate record keeping for audit trails and reporting purposes as well as feeding into month-end closure activities. Maintaining and updating the fixed assets database and intercompany recharge management. Prepare, review and submit VAT returns in compliance with regional and international requirements. Monitor VAT transactions and ensure accurate reporting. Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational policies. Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies during inspections and audits. Manage and oversee financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. Perform reconciliations and analysis of accounts to ensure data integrity. Support the team with ad hoc requests as needed.

Qualifications
  • BSc in Accounting, Finance or Mathematics or relevant experience in a Financial Administrator/ Assistant role.

  • Highly proficient in Excel with strong working knowledge of accounting software and data integration (manual and electronic).
  • Good working knowledge of UK tax, auditing, and commercial regulatory rules.
