Job summary

A leading civil engineering firm seeks an experienced General Foreman to manage site operations for highways projects in Didcot, Oxfordshire. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in civil engineering, strong leadership qualities, and a solid understanding of Health & Safety. This permanent position offers a salary of £60k with benefits including a car allowance and subsidised medical cover.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Foreman or General Foreman within civil engineering or highways construction.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage site teams effectively.
  • Excellent understanding of construction methods, equipment, and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Confident in interpreting technical drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate site operations, supervising teams.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety policies.
  • Oversee all aspects of project delivery.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, designers, and subcontractors.
  • Manage quality assurance and environmental standards.
  • Prepare progress reports and attend monthly site meetings.
  • Drive innovation and introduce process improvements.
  • Control costs and contribute to financial management.
