Yard Operative

• Location: Green Lane, Heywood, OL10
• Job Type: Full-time
• Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (37 hours per week)
• Pay: £13.26 per hour

We are seeking a reliable and proactive Oper to join our team. The successful candidate will ensure the depot yard is maintained to a high standard, supporting operational efficiency and safety.

Day-to-day of the role

• Maintain a clean and safe yard through litter picking, weed removal, and leaf clearance.
• Carry out strimming and hedging to keep access routes clear.
• Apply grit during cold periods to prevent slips and falls.
• Conduct daily site inspections and report health and safety concerns.
• Handle deliveries safely, including unloading and storing items using a forklift truck.
• Monitor skips, wheelie bin stock, pallets, and damaged bins for timely action.
• Wash sweepers daily and check brush wear for replacement.
• Ensure signage is visible and in good condition.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
• Forklift Truck licence and experience (desirable).
• LGV licence (desirable but not essential).
• Previous experience in yard or depot operations.
• Strong awareness of health and safety practices.
