About the Gallery

David Aaron Ltd is a renowned gallery in Mayfair, London, specialising in Classical Greek and Roman, Egyptian and Near Eastern Antiquities, as well as important items of Natural History. The gallery has facilitated the creation of celebrated private collections and collaborated with major museums worldwide

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Gallery Registrar to take ownership of all artwork logistics and compliance.

About the Role

This is a sole-charge registrar role responsible for artwork logistics, including transport, compliance, documentation.

This position is fully on-site,

Key Responsibilities
Logistics & Artwork Movement
  • Manage all inbound and outbound artwork logistics from auction houses, clients, suppliers, and partner institutions.
  • Oversee packing, transport, courier coordination.
Compliance, Customs & Legal Documentation
  • Handle all UK & international import / export documentation, including :
  • Cultural Export Licences
  • Temporary Admissions (TA) and Bond documentation
  • OFAC and Export / Import related permits (where applicable)
  • Maintain complete compliance with regulations governing antiquities and cross-border movement.
Inventory Control
  • Ensure meticulous recording and tracking of every artwork entering and leaving the gallery, and their TA / Import status.
Insurance & Risk Management
  • Manage insurance quotations, schedules, valuations, and coverage for high-value shipments and in-gallery holdings.
  • Liaise with insurers to obtain relevant quotes.
Exhibitions, Loans & Installations
  • Coordinate artwork logistics for commercial domestic and international exhibitions.
  • Sometimes prepare and manage loan agreements.
  • Supervise installation and deinstallation processes with technicians.
Institutional & Client Liaison
  • Act as the logistics point of contact for museums, cultural institutions, and collectors.
  • Support with documentation needed for sales, loans, and exhibition planning.
  • Work collaboratively across the gallery while maintaining primary ownership of all registrar duties.
The Candidate should have
Required
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a registrar, logistics, or compliance role within a gallery, museum, auction house, or antiquities environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK / international customs, temporary admission, export licensing.
  • Demonstrable experience coordinating international art shipments and high-value logistics.
  • Exceptional organisational skills with outstanding attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working independently, taking full ownership of the registrar function.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence liaising with collectors, institutions, and logistics partners.
  • Ability to supervise installations and collaborate with directors and technicians.
Desirable
  • Experience within the antiquities or heritage sector.
  • Familiarity with cultural heritage law and relevant risk management.
  • Working knowledge of French (beneficial but not required).
