Job summary

Co-op Group in Leeds is looking for a part-time Funeralcare assistant to join our friendly team. The role involves supporting families, handling client enquiries, and ensuring a respectful, welcoming funeral home environment.

No prior funeral industry experience is required as we provide full training and ongoing support. Effective communication, numerical accuracy for cash handling and invoicing, and the ability to work across a range of digital systems are essential.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills and ability to work with clients and colleagues both in writing and verbally
• Numerical ability for cash handling, discounts, data entry and invoicing
• High attention to detail and accuracy to adhere to regulatory policies and processes
• Good IT skills to use devices and systems (computers, tablets, smartphones, printers) and learn new applications

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and the community
• Support clients in person and over the phone, arranging family visits and answering questions
• Ensure the funeral home is clean, safe and welcoming, reporting maintenance issues as needed
• Manage client documentation and invoicing using digital systems and devices
• Ensure regulated work like selling funeral plans is referred to the Funeral Plan Arrangers
• Assist with manual handling and preparation of the deceased as required with appropriate training and equipment
• Update client management applications with accurate, timely information
