Role: Fundraising Officer

We are seeking a dynamic Fundraising Officer to initiate and lead on fundraising activities. The successful candidate will play a vital role in developing and implementing effective fundraising strategies to sustain and grow our humanitarian projects. The position involves engaging with individual donors, businesses, and community partners to secure financial support for Unity Aid’s life‑saving projects. Fixed Term Contract – 5th January to 31st March – 8 hours a week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate fundraising campaigns, events, and activities to engage the community and generate funds.
  • Represent the charity at relevant events and activities, including public speaking.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Muslim community institutions, organisations and community groups, including mosques.
  • Organise traditional activities such as sponsored challenges, mosque collections, car washes, business day of giving, online peer‑to‑peer fundraising campaigns.
  • Establish links with sympathetic media outlets for fundraising and PR opportunities, including TV and radio outlets.
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of national and local events when required.
  • Plan and manage fundraising functions and events, including post‑event activities and donor follow‑up.
  • Identify partnership opportunities locally, nationally, and internationally for joint fundraising campaigns.
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to promote events and initiatives effectively.
  • Act as an ambassador for Unity Aid, upholding and promoting our organisational values and ethos.
  • Recruit, engage, and train volunteers to support fundraising activities and events.
  • Service the needs of volunteers both professionally and socially.
  • Participate in meetings associated with the work above.
  • Liaise with and make recommendations to management as required.
  • Act as spokesperson and media contact for the charity when required.
  • Maintain an organised and accessible filing and documentation system.
  • Record and manage tasks efficiently using digital solutions such as Microsoft Planner.
  • Ensure all fundraising activities comply with relevant legal and ethical standards.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices, regulations, opportunities and trends in fundraising.
  • Stay informed on humanitarian situations and crises across the world.
  • Perform any other duties commensurate with the accountabilities of the post.
  • Seek to improve personal performance and commit to continuous professional development.
Qualifications
  • Educated to Degree level in any subject including Islamic sciences.
  • Fundraising qualifications and/or training (e.g. IoF, Fundraising Standards).
  • A demonstrable track record of fundraising or related activities.
  • Good knowledge of contemporary fundraising techniques.
  • Experience of leading fundraising teams and volunteers.
  • Good knowledge of the UK Muslim community.
  • Experience of public speaking.
  • Experience of fundraising during busy Islamic seasons such as Ramadan and Dhul‑Hijjah.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence and have full access to own car.
