Progress Teachers Ltd in Swadlincote, Derbyshire, is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our mainstream Primary School, supporting across EYFS-KS2 in a nurturing, structured environment. Responsibilities include planning engaging activities, tailoring learning to individual needs, observing and recording progress, and providing emotional and behavioral support.

A TA/EYFS qualification and a DBS on Update Service are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience working within school settings (including Private Day Nurseries).
• Teaching Assistant or EYFS Practitioner qualification required.
• Calm, patient and adaptable approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• DBS on Update Service (or willingness to apply).
• Available to start work Monday–Thursday from 1st September.

Job description

Progress Teachers are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our mainstream Primary School in Swadlincote , Derbyshire to support across all phases of EYFS-KS2. This setting offers a nurturing and structured environment where every child is supported to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

About the Role:

As an LSA, you will:

• Plan Age-Appropriate Activities: Create and implement educational activities and experiences that are engaging, enjoyable, and suitable for the developmental stage of the children.
• Tailor Learning to Individual Needs: Recognize and respond to the different developmental stages, learning styles, and interests of each child.
• Follow KS1-KS2 Framework: Adhere to the principles, Experience working within Key Stage 1/2, with a sound knowledge of the National Curriculum, assessment expectations, and effective classroom practices
• Observe and Assess Children: Regularly observe children to assess their development and learning, using both formal and informal methods.
• Record Progress: Keep detailed records of children's progress in each area of learning, documenting achievements, milestones, and any areas where they may need additional support.
• Provide Individual Support: Offer tailored support for children with additional needs or those who may require extra help in certain areas of development.
• Promote Positive Behavior: Set clear expectations for behavior and provide consistent praise and rewards for good behavior.
• Model Behavior: Demonstrate appropriate social behavior and help children understand the impact of their actions on others.
• Support Emotional Development: Help children manage their emotions, understand empathy, and develop resilience.

What We’re Looking For:

• You have previous experience working within school settings (including Private Day Nurseries)
• Will have a Teaching Assistant or EYFS Practitioner qualification.
• A calm, patient, and adaptable approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• You have a DBS on the Update Service (or are willing to apply for one)
• Available to start work Monday - Thursday from Tuesday 1st September
