Job summary

U-Drive in Poole is seeking a Fleet Controller to join our Fleet Control team. This 40-hour week, Monday to Friday role handles SMR, VOR and breakdowns from first call to resolution, coordinating with our workshop and suppliers to deliver to SLAs.

You will be a clear communicator by phone and email, chase suppliers, prioritise live jobs, and keep customers informed while logging all activity in our rental management system.

Qualifications

• Experience in fleet, rental, breakdown, workshop or comparable operational role managing vehicle maintenance or downtime.
• Experience in a busy telephone-based or contact centre environment handling inbound/outbound calls.
• Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines or SLAs under pressure.
• GCSE English (or equivalent) and confident, accurate keyboard skills.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of SMR activity across the fleet, arranging servicing, repairs, inspections, MOT/plate tests and Road Fund Licence renewals with in-house workshop and third-party suppliers.
• Manage VOR vehicles and breakdowns, prioritising urgent cases against SLAs and driving down downtime.
• Make and receive a high volume of calls and emails with customers, garages, breakdown providers and suppliers, chasing each job through to completion.
• Review repairs and incidents to identify recharge opportunities for damage, misuse or non-fair-wear-and-tear items.
• Keep customers and colleagues updated with clear, accurate, and timely vehicle status information.
• Coordinate with Insurance, Account Management and Sales teams to resolve problems and improve service levels.
• Record all activity accurately and promptly in the rental management system.
