Fire Safety Manager

Manchester City Council is seeking an experienced and qualified Fire Safety Manager to ensure compliance across our housing stock, focusing on social housing and high–rise residential blocks. This hybrid role requires both office work and regular site visits, offering a dynamic work environment.
Day–to–day of the role:
- Lead fire safety compliance across housing stock, ensuring adherence to statutory requirements and best practices.
- Conduct inspections and audits of fire safety systems, including fire doors, alarms, emergency lighting, and suppression equipment.
- Monitor compliance with fire safety regulations, identify risks, and recommend remedial actions.
- Prepare detailed reports on inspections and audits, highlighting deficiencies and corrective measures.
- Deliver fire safety advice and training to staff and residents, including emergency evacuation procedures.
- Stay updated on fire safety legislation and industry standards, driving continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Professional Qualification in fire safety (e.g., C08 Fire Risk Management in Residential Properties or equivalent).
- Proven experience in social housing, specifically managing fire safety in high–rise blocks.
- Strong knowledge of UK fire safety regulations, including the Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order 2005.
- Demonstrable experience in fire risk assessments and compliance monitoring.
- Excellent communication and report–writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for regular site visits.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with fire safety management software.
- Experience managing contractors and in–house teams.
- Understanding of post–Grenfell compliance requirements.
