Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Fire Door Inspector, who will ensure the safety and compliance of fire doors in buildings. Their work scope will include inspection, maintenance oversight, and documentation to minimize fire risks and enhance safety.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct Regular Inspections: Perform routine checks on fire doors to ensure they meet safety standards and compliance with local building codes and fire regulations.
  • Assess Condition: Examine the overall condition of fire doors, including structural integrity, alignment, and operation.
  • Check Components: Inspect door components such as frames, hinges, seals, latches, and glazing to ensure they function correctly and meet regulatory standards.
  • Smoke Seals and Intumescent Strips: Inspect smoke seals and intumescent strips for damage or wear, ensuring they can expand properly in a fire scenario.
  • Maintain Records: Document inspection results, maintenance schedules, and non-compliance issues in detailed logs.
Qualifications
  • A recognised UK Spec Engineering Degree Qualification in Fire Engineering / Fire Safety or Higher-Level Engineering Qualification with demonstrable career Fire Engineering Industry training and delivery.
  • Demonstrate specific certificated training achieved via one of the UK accredited Fire Door Training Scheme providers, such as FDIS Diploma in Fire Doors, OFQUAL - FireQual Level 3 Award in Fundamentals of Fire Door Inspection, FPA Level 3 award in Fire Door Inspection.
  • Working knowledge of UK regulatory and standards knowledge
Experience
  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in the UK Fire & Construction Industry, particularly in the means and methods of design, specification, installation, bringing into use, lifecycle maintenance and the remediation of Fire Door Assemblies.
