Overview

FINANCE MANAGER – ENGINEERING & MAINTENANCE

easyJet are currently on the lookout for a Finance Manager to join our evolving operations finance team, specifically partnering the Engineering & Maintenance (E&M) operations.

With over 330 aircraft flying over 1000 routes to more than 35 countries, we’re the UK’s largest airline, the fourth largest in Europe and the tenth largest in the world, flying over 70 million passengers a year and employing over 17,000 people. It’s big-scale and we’re still growing.

The Team

This is a really exciting opportunity working as a key member of the Operations Finance team, reporting into the Senior Finance Manager for E&M, providing financial ownership for E&M costs and line managing a direct report. This role also sits within the wider Operations Team and is a key business partnering role.

The Job
  • Purpose of this role is to be an end-to-end finance business partner for E&M costs and provide complete financial management and ownership for these areas
  • Strong technical understanding of business cases for capital investment, ROI and Payback. Optionality and recommendations. Pre and post evaluation. Ongoing proactive tracking of performance to co-pilot delivery of anticipated returns
  • Manage and challenge E&M on unit cost of production, ensuring clear targets, variance ownership, and timely corrective actions if necessary
  • Create and implement new performance KPI’s and productivity measures for multiple areas within E&M
  • Provides a business partnership between the business owners and the financial performance
  • Leads the long-term planning processes for E&M costs, including the Business plan and the long-term strategic plan
  • This includes month end deliverables, forecasts, projects and providing insightful analysis for the business
  • Drives and monitors the cost saving initiatives that form part of the overall strategic plan
What you will be doing

Business Partnering:

  • Provides a true Business Partner framework to the E&M team, ensuring that the business owners are supported with the right insight and information at all times. Strong business partnering with cross functional stakeholders including wider finance team, Operations & Fleet teams to ensure seamless communication and integrity of results and forecasts.

Financial Management:

  • Business plan and long-term strategic plan for E&M
  • Supporting the cost programme strategy and delivery of initiatives
  • Review and comment on monthly reporting and analysis
  • Monthly Re-forecasting
  • Business case evaluation and decision advice
  • Ad-hoc projects

Business Performance and Analytical support:

  • Ownership for monthly detailed analysis and insight into the costs, which can be used to drive business performance and improve the cost base, including variance analysis
  • Responsibility for accurate monthly forecasting into consolidated PBT model, capex forecast and review of cash flow forecasts
  • Driving confidence in numbers and providing insight into risks and opportunities
  • Driving continuous improvements in the operational and finance processes
  • Contribute to budget process and PPT for E&M detailing variances by country & maintenance area for presentation to senior management and for procurement
  • Provide financial evaluation and acts as lead decision support finance manager for ad-hoc projects and cost saving initiatives

People Leadership, Relationships and Influence
  • As a member of the Core Finance team, the E&M Finance Manager has responsibility for
  • Maintaining effective cross functional relationships
  • Providing subject matter expertise to a diverse and demanding set of stakeholders.
  • Managing and mentoring junior members of the team
  • Managing one direct report with a responsibility for their development, retention and talent
Key Performance Indicators & Financial Targets
  • Support delivery of Cost per Seat (CPS) & Cost per available seat kilometre (CASK) maintained at broadly flat and delivered to budget
  • Month End pack delivery with insight and budget variance analysis completed on time and with accuracy and clear explanations of movements
  • Support strategic projects and track benefits delivery
  • Deliver the business initiatives for each area of responsibility
  • Support the development of in year and pipeline cost initiatives with E&M
What you will need
  • Qualified accountant with at least 3 years post qualified experience
  • Ability to thrive and succeed in large, complex, fast moving, dynamic teams & businesses.
  • Excellent analytical skills with an ability to demonstrate an excellent grasp of variance analysis and drivers.
  • Excellent business case skills on capital investments
  • Manage own time across variety of tasks and projects to deliver to deadlines
  • Able to communicate and challenge effectively with key stakeholders at all seniority levels in the organisation.
  • Able to demonstrate the commercial value of Finance projects
  • Ability to explain finance clearly to non-financial stakeholders
  • A proactive team player
  • An ability to work on own initiative and has the confidence to offer different solutions and perspectives.
  • A true self starter, with high levels of motivation and enthusiasm
  • Excellent PPT skills and excel skills (up to basic macros) and TM1 experience preferred
