Overview

On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced and proactive Finance Manager to lead the finance function of a well-established organisation based in Halifax.

This is a key leadership role, responsible for managing financial operations, reporting, compliance, and systems development. Working closely with the CEO and Board, the Finance Manager will provide essential insight to support strategic decision-making and long-term financial planning.

This is a hybrid position with 2 days per week required in the Halifax office.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the finance team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement
  • Deliver monthly management accounts and financial reporting
  • Prepare year-end accounts and manage the audit process
  • Support budget holders and monitor financial performance
  • Maintain accurate weekly cashflow forecasting and ensure sufficient working capital
  • Oversee payroll, pensions, VAT returns, and tax compliance
  • Develop and maintain robust internal controls and financial systems
  • Act as the main contact for banks, auditors, and financial software providers
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • A recognised accountancy qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting
  • Experience in producing management accounts and leading audits
  • Excellent Excel skills; experience with Xero is desirable
  • A hands-on approach and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Exceptional communication and organisational skills
  • Experience within a values-driven or mission-led environment (desirable but not essential)
