Success Recruit are partnering with a fast-growing M&E construction company based in Waltham Abbey to hire a Finance Professional. This key role sits at the heart of the Management Team, reporting directly to the directors and overseeing the daily operations of a busy finance department. The position will also focus on developing and enhancing processes, with a strong emphasis on modernising workflows through AI-driven solutions.

The successful Finance Manager will be expected to :
  • Ideally qualified, however QBE considered and have at least 5 years’ experience ideally within construction
  • Demonstrate a strong commercial understanding, ideally within growing businesses in the construction sector
  • Experienced within Xero & any other construction financial systems beneficial
  • Be proactive, data & technology driven to support with identifying and implementing improvements to the business

Job Description :

The Finance Manager will take ownership of the full bookkeeping cycle and act as the central point of contact for all daily financial activity always working within best practice and working closely with the directors and external consultants supporting with the upcoming and smooth transition of a planned new accounting system migration into the business.

Duties to include but not limited to :
  • Oversee sales and purchase processes, invoicing, supplier management, and payment runs
  • Complete VAT and CIS returns, ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements
  • Manage and run payroll for approx. X with accurate allocation of labour costs
  • Work alongside external consultants as part of the AI driven optimisation project
  • Support the integration of system data into coherent project costing
  • Monitor cash flow, cost control, labour tracking, and profitability across projects
  • Manage timesheet processes and ensuring accurate labour cost allocation
  • Prepare monthly accounts with full working papers, WIP reviews, and reporting
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external teams
  • Ensure strong internal controls, adherence to compliance standards, and application of best-practice procedures

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the company as a key team member of the team, the position is ideal for someone who enjoys driving business improvement and contributing strategically as part of the senior management team, supporting the directors in delivering long-term growth plans as well as being hands on in a small finance team.

Hours : Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm (some flexibility)

Salary : Circa £50k+ dependant on experience
