A leading laboratory instrumentation company is seeking a Field Service Engineer in the South / Midlands area of the UK. This role involves providing field-based service support for NIR and Wet Chemistry instrumentation. You will receive full training from experienced Field Service Engineers and will be responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, and breakdown support, ensuring all activities are documented thoroughly. Regular travel across the UK and Ireland is required, along with the opportunity to identify business growth during customer visits.

Qualifications

Our company specialises in laboratory test instrumentation sales and service, we are based in central Scotland and operate throughout the UK, providing engineering support services within a variety of sectors including healthcare, life sciences, food & drink and pharmaceutical industry. As part of Calibre Scientific, we work closely with other chromatography business units in oil and gas and renewables too.

Position Summary

This role provides field-based service support for NIR and Wet Chemistry instrumentation across the UK and Ireland. The position comes with full training on Wet Chemistry systems from an experienced Field Service Engineer and training for NIR systems from other Field Service personnel. The Field Service Engineer will deliver servicing, troubleshooting, and breakdown support for legacy FOSS NIR instruments and FOSS / OPSIS Liquid Line wet chemistry systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled service, preventative maintenance, and verification on NIR and Wet Chemistry instruments.
  • Provide on-site and remote diagnostics and breakdown repairs for legacy FOSS NIR systems (e.g., 5000 / 6500, DS2500, SpectraStar, Rapitec etc.) and FOSS / OPSIS wet chemistry instruments.
  • Capture and retain technical knowledge from an experienced wet chemistry Field Service Engineer to ensure continuity of expertise.
  • Manage service visits across the UK & Ireland, including regular travel and some short-notice requirements.
  • Produce accurate service reports following all site visits and activities.
  • Complete accurate expense accounting related to travel and service visits.
  • Use service-related software tools, manage instrument files, and support customers in resolving networking or software-related issues where relevant.
  • Identify and elevate potential business opportunities discovered during customer visits.

The successful candidate will be located in the South / Midlands area of the UK.
