Job summary

SMT Corp. is seeking a Field Service Engineer to service Volvo construction equipment across Kent and surrounding areas. You’ll diagnose, maintain and repair machinery at customer sites, building strong relationships and delivering expert technical support.

The role is field-based and requires a customer-focused engineer with NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or related discipline, plus proven experience with heavy equipment, diesel engines and hydraulics.

Qualifications

NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Maintenance, or related engineering discipline.
Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction plant with diesel engines, hydraulics, drivetrains and electrics.
Strong fault-finding and ability to work independently in field-based settings.

Responsibilities

Carry out diagnostics, servicing, maintenance, and repairs on Volvo construction equipment.
Identify and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine faults using diagnostic tools.
Act as primary customer contact, providing updates on status, progress and recommended actions.
Complete job documentation, inspection reports, timesheets and electronic records in real time.
Maintain high safety, professionalism and compliance with company policies.
