Job summary

SMT is seeking a Field Service Engineer to cover Kent and surrounding areas, servicing Volvo construction equipment with a focus on uptime and customer service. You will diagnose, maintain and repair machines in the field, travel within your territory, and build strong client relationships while upholding safety standards.

Applicants must hold NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, or HGV Maintenance, with proven experience in heavy equipment and diesel engines.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Maintenance, or related field.
• Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction plant equipment.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, drivetrains, electrics and diagnostic systems.
• Advanced fault-finding and ability to work independently in-field.

Responsibilities

• Carry out diagnostics, servicing, maintenance and repairs on Volvo construction equipment in the field.
• Identify and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and engine faults with diagnostic tools.
• Act as primary contact for customers and provide updates on status and actions.
• Complete all job documentation, timesheets and records in real time.
• Maintain safety, professionalism and compliance with company policies.
