Job summary

SMT GB is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to service Volvo construction equipment across Kent and surrounding areas. You will diagnose, maintain, and repair machinery, building strong relationships with customers while ensuring uptime and high-performance operation.

Applicants should hold an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Plant Maintenance or related field, with proven experience in heavy equipment, diesel engines, hydraulics and diagnostics, plus a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent.
• Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction plant equipment.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills for field-based work.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Carry out diagnostics, servicing, maintenance, and repairs on Volvo construction equipment.
• Identify and fix mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine faults.
• Act as primary contact for customers with updates on status and actions.
• Complete all job documentation, timesheets, and records in real time.
• Maintain safety, professionalism, and adherence to policies.
