Job summary

SMT in Kent is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join our Customer Support team, servicing Volvo construction equipment across Kent and surrounding areas. You will maintain, diagnose and repair machines, working independently in the field while building strong customer relationships and ensuring uptime.

Applicants must hold NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Maintenance, or a related discipline, with proven experience maintaining heavy construction

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Eng, or HGV Maintenance is required.
• Experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction plant equipment.
• Proven diagnostic and fault‑finding skills in a field service context.
• Strong communication and customer service abilities with a professional approach.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain, diagnose and repair Volvo construction equipment in the field.
• Identify and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and engine faults.
• Be primary customer contact, communicating status and recommended actions.
• Complete all paperwork, timesheets and records in real time.
• Maintain safety, housekeeping and compliance with company policies.
