Field Service Engineer

Location: UK-based with frequent UK and international travel

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Field Service Engineer to join a leading provider of marine and industrial engine services. This role involves delivering expert maintenance, troubleshooting, and overhaul services for a wide range of engines used in marine and offshore applications. You will work on-site at ports, shipyards, and offshore facilities both in the UK and worldwide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostics, repairs, and complete overhauls on 4-stroke and 2-stroke marine diesel engines.
  • Commission engines and conduct performance/load testing following maintenance or installation.
  • Provide technical support and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Prepare accurate service reports and maintain clear communication with clients and internal teams.
  • Travel extensively within the UK and internationally to meet client requirements.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in marine engine maintenance and repair.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems and components (e.g., Caterpillar, Wartsila, MAN, Cummins, Daihatsu, Niigata).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Valid UK driving license and willingness to work offshore when required.
  • Relevant certifications such as BOSIET (preferred).
Desirable Skills
  • Experience with commissioning, sea trials, and major component replacements (crankshaft, cylinder heads, pistons).
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and documentation standards.
