Job summary

Job description
Overview

The successful candidate will be participating in a 1 in 14 rota, contributing equally to 24/7 cover of NSECH emergency general surgery. The candidate will be attached to the colorectal surgery department and the role will be tailored to their individual needs with a strong focus on robotic colorectal surgical skills. If the candidate has full or provisional JAG accreditation they may be asked to provide endoscopy sessions; this will be negotiated with the candidate based on their experience.


Responsibilities

Duties will also involve cover for outpatient clinics, theatres, and special interest clinics. On‑site sub‑specialty consultant cover (Upper GI and Colorectal) is provided between 0800hrs and 1800hrs, with 24hrs consultant cover outside these times provided from home.


Contract and Working Hours

The post is for 12 months. The candidate should be peri or post CCT in General Surgery. The successful candidate will be participating in a 1 in 14 rota, with 24/7 coverage. Please note we reserve the right to close this vacancy early if a suitable number of applications are received.

Applicants who meet the Fit and Proper Person Requirements (FPPR) will require additional pre‑employment checks in line with CQC and NHS England statutory guidance.
