We are currently looking for a Fabricator / Frog Fitter to join our team in Birmingham, Alabama.

Purpose of Position

The Fabricator / Frog Fitter is responsible to assemble and fit frogs according to the blueprint and specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Able to operate grinder, welder and power tools.
  • Able to finish grind, weld, and fit.
  • Able to grind filler blocks, fit standard and mag-tip switch points and other miscellaneous track-work related products such as switch clip assemblies.
  • Assemble frogs in a timely manner.
  • Read and follow the production schedule.
  • Safely operate jib and overhead cranes.
  • Routine clean up work area.
  • Able to work with little supervision.
  • Adhere to Nortrak’s Safety, Quality and Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or climbing.
  • Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Regularly lift and move up to 20-25 pounds, occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Hearing abilities related to job assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School graduate or GED.
  • Welding, Forklift and Crane certification.
  • Ability to read work orders, ITPs, blue prints, rulers and tape measures.
  • Basic mathematical calculation experience in adding and subtracting whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
